I was born in Costa Rica, Central America. I didn't grow up with a Super 8mm or VHS camera in my hands. I discovered my love for images late, when I began to shooting experimental films with a group of friends, calling ourselves Los Bisontes. I wasn't sure what it meant to be a cinematographer; I just knew that I was happy operating cameras and playing with light, so I decided to move to Buenos Aires to study cinematography.

I began my career as director of photography in Argentina.  My first documentary was Mirada de la Tierra, which was part of Doc TV Latam 2012. At the same time I got my first nomination for Best Cinematography at the first edition of the ADF Film Festival with the short film Peces Muertos.

Back in Costa Rica, I shot El Despertar de las Hormigas, which had its worldwide premiere at the 69th Berlinale and was nominated for Best Ibero-American Film at the Goya Awards 2020.  Also I won the award for Best Cinematography at the São Paulo International Web Series Festival with Dele Viaje, Season 2.  I was part of the Talent Campus Guadalajara, and I'm currently a Founder Member and President of the Costa Rican Society of Cinematographers (C.C.R.).

Photography has led me to discover many new people and places. These are the things that fulfill me the most, and it’s why I'm always looking for new projects. It doesn't matter what the budget or equipment is, as long as it’s an artistic challenge and a story that deserves to be told.
